2022-2023 President’s Welcome
Dear Campbell Families,
Welcome back to our returning families, teachers, and staff! To our 6th graders and new families, Welcome to the Campbell Middle School community! I look forward to meeting all of you throughout the school year. Before going any further let me share a little bit about myself. My name is Latoya Palmer-Addy and this is my second year as PSTA President and I really enjoy being a part of the Smyrna Community. My husband and I have 3 boys who attend schools within the Campbell High cluster (each one of them is at a different school – elementary, middle, and high school). Earlier this year we welcomed into our family the cutest puppy whom we love dearly. Most days we enjoy hanging out with friends and making lasting memories.
The Campbell PTSA is a vital component of the success of our children here. Not only do we normally host fun events during the year, but we also help our teachers to bring enrichment and support to each child. We are open to hearing your suggestions, and welcome them, so please email me anytime.
We have been able to provide show up for our school in previous years because of the support of our Campbell families.
Our PTSA Membership Drive is under way! I encourage you all to renew or start a new membership for only $10 per person. You can join here. Your membership gives you a voice at our meetings, some exciting things that we will unveil soon, discounts at various businesses and - most importantly - you are supporting the oldest and largest child advocacy organization in the US! In addition to this letter, links will be shared to Facebook and Instagram on how to join. Also, be on the lookout for Jr. Spartan Spirit Wear.
Becoming a PTSA member does not mean you are expected Volunteer – however, for our community to be strong, everyone’s participation is essential. Many parents feel they cannot participate because of language barriers, or they cannot be available during the day because of work - please don’t let that discourage you. Whether you have 30 minutes or a few hours, your time, your ideas, your talents, and your voice are truly needed and appreciated. There are endless possibilities for family members to contribute, and we can match any time constraints and abilities to needed tasks.
Our PTSA Board meets monthly, via Zoom and we are always working as a team to figure out how we can best help Campbell. We work directly with Dr. Havis and the entire Campbell staff. Our first General Meeting is this coming Monday, August 22nd at 6:30pm, please register here. The other dates will be released shortly and all Campbell families are encouraged to attend.
Please contact me anytime about PTSA questions that you may have at cmsptsa1@gmail.com. If you are on social media, follow us on Instagram at @CampbellMiddlePTSA and Facebook at @CMSPTSASmyrna. Those will be a source of information as the year continues.
I want to share a quote by Liberty Hyde Bailey with you as we think on helping Campbell be a place of growth. “A garden requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions. They thrive because someone expended effort on them.”
Thank you for your support and patience this year! On behalf of the PTSA Board and I, we wish you all a fulfilling and productive year ahead!
Latoya Palmer Addy
2022-2023 CMS PTSA President
